The limiting value of the angular size (
) for the 4C sources
corresponds to the limiting resolution of the Westerbork Synthesis Radio
Telescope (WSRT) at 1415 MHz. For the 3C sources a limiting angular size of
was chosen for comparison reasons. There is a tendency for
the 4C sources that steeper spectra correspond to smaller angular sizes. This
is consistent with the steeper spectrum sources being on average further away
as indicated by figures 5 and 7.
